Beady says when an update has landed

A line at the foot of the window: Beady 0.1.2 is ready. It goes in when you quit, or you can restart now. With Restart now and Later, and nothing there the rest of the time.

0.1.1 downloaded updates quietly and installed them on quit, which is right until you remember that a Mac app gets left open for weeks. An update waiting for a quit that never comes is an update that never lands.

Beady updates itself

An installed copy checks for a newer version shortly after it opens and every few hours after that, downloads one in the background, and swaps it in when you quit. Settings → Version says which build you are running and has a check button, and so does Check for Updates in the app menu.

Before this, every fix meant telling somebody to download a disk image and drag it over the old one, which is a thing people do once and then stop doing.

The second, bouncing Dock icon is gone

The server inside the app was setting its own process title, which on macOS registers a process with LaunchServices. That put a generic tile in the Dock that bounced forever, because it never opened a window of its own.

The first public build

Paste the signed scope once. Drop in what a client asks. Beady says whether it is covered, shows the clause it rests on, and drafts the reply. Signed and notarised by Apple, so it opens on a double click without the right-click trick an unsigned app needs.

No account, no key to paste, and nothing to subscribe to. It reads with Claude Code or Codex already on your Mac, or hands you a prompt to paste into whatever you use.
